Walking with pheasants

I parked at SH 892 105 (tucked in by the gate) then followed the vehicle track towards the derelict farm house of Craig-For. I did not veer off the track as following the PROW up to Bryn-glas would have taken me near the pheasant pens..there were hundreds of them. On reflection I think it is best to do this one between March and August so that you are out of the Pheasant breeding and shooting season or you come in from a different direction.  Did not see anyone all day…

Don't cut across to summit as you reach the top but head for the small forest and swing around

My activation set-up

HF:- Elecraft KX2 (8 watts) and 4Ah LiPo

Antenna - 3 band link dipole (60/40/20 (+15m extensions +80m loading coils)

(VHF) Yaesu FT270 & Yaesu FT2 (5watts) into a ‘cable tie’ dipole.

Antenna support – 5m Fishing pole
