Down in the South East of England

Whilst visiting Owain and Kayleigh in Crawley I decided to activate Leith Hill. This was to be a quick activation as it had started to rain.  Plenty of room to park at TQ 130 432. Val stayed in the car so I set off on my own with an umbrella in hand as well as the 7m fishing pole. I qualified in 4 minutes and as it had turned a little more wet than expected I pulled the plug when there were no more callers…thanks everyone.

My activation set-up

HF:- Elecraft KX2 (8 watts) and 4Ah LiPo

Antenna - 3 band link dipole (60/40/20 (+15m extensions +80m loading coils)

(VHF) Yaesu FT270 & Yaesu FT2 (5watts) into a ‘cable tie’ dipole.

Antenna support – 7m Fishing pole
