G/DC-007 – Watch Croft

G/DC-007 – Watch Croft (1 point)

26/11/2018

Seven of Seven…last of the day

It was getting late in the afternoon by the time we reached the parking spot at SW 415347…plenty of room for several cars…it seems this is a favourite spot for dog walkers. Val opted once more to stay in the car so I made my way up the track towards a bleak looking house overlooking the sea….it was nice to see the sea from a summit, first time this week.

My GPS track
Heading up the track

As soon as you reach the house turn right exactly opposite the drive way (SW 417356) onto a narrow path through the heather and grass which meanders towards the summit.
Path to the summit

Trig ahead

My first call on 60m brought Helen to my Log ending with Phil G4OBK telling me that Don G0RQL couldn’t hear me. I told Phil to QSP that I would be on 80m shortly..60m had gone long.

My antenna...must have slipped

I set up the linear for 80m and was soon picked up by Bill G4WSB with Don RQL following him into my Log. With the WAB square and the Trig up for grabs it was nice to get a few WAB chasers in the log with Lothar and Manfred making it from Germany.
