G/DC-005 – Christ Cross

G/DC-005 – Christ Cross

24/11/2018

Three of Seven

The weather had not improved overnight so I decided to hit the other easy summit of Christ Cross, South of Tiverton. Plenty of room to park at  SS 966050.

With full waterproofs on and umbrella at the ready I left Val in the car and made my way up the narrow wet and muddy farm track to the Communications tower and the Trig.
The gate was open so I headed up the lane...be aware that there is a house being built on the left

Communications tower on Christ Cross

Having done the usual of letting the chasers know what frequency I’d be on I gave a call of  ‘Is this frequency in use?’ only to get a reply from Bill G4WSB  ‘Is that you Allan?’  and then the fun began…thanks for the spot Bill.

Just finished on 80m...back on the standard Elecraft microphone today.

I’d plugged the linear in today so a visit to 40m brought a good run of chasers and three s2s so thank you Mark, Rene and Marko for the points.  Well done to Esther GI0AZA and Ian GI0AZB who got me on all three bands.
