Second of Three
G/WB-003 Stiperstones
11/03/2016
Parked at SO 3693 9766 and followed the grassy track up
until the first large rocky outcrop.
The wild life
Rocky approach
It then becomes very uneven underfoot with
both large and small rocks strewn along the path to the summit…tread carefully.
Manstone Rock and Trig in the distance
Nearly there
Before I even had time to put up the HF antenna three
s2s made my log all on the handheld….thanks everybody

I set up the HF gear and almost immediately I saw on RRT that
John MW0XOT/p was on Drygarn Fawr GW/MW-003 and calling…he was soon in the log…thanks John...I called him without changing the links..bad practice.

My activation location..not up by the trig as Bill WSB suggested
It was great to have quite a pile-up with a mixture of UK
and EU stations with quite a few WAB chasers wanting the square and Trig.

The sun was still shining
It all came to an end rather quickly and soon afterwards
I took the opportunity to pull down the linked dipole as we had another summit
across the valley to activate. During this time I heard Caroline on 2m calling from
Moel y Gamelin and both her and Martyn were soon in the log with a comment that
they hoped we might be able to get another s2s from their next summit later in
the day…fingers crossed.

Some young lads enjoying themselves by the trig as we left :)
My activation set up today:- (HF) Yaesu FT817 (5
watts) (4Ah LiPo), 3 band link dipole (60/40/20), (VHF) Yaesu
FT270 (5watts) - 7m Fishing pole.
Thanks everyone for
the contacts and the spots.
