G/NP-015 Great Knoutberry Hill
26/07/2015
Monday dawned rather damp and grey. The last summit of our visit
to NP was to be Great Knoutberry Hill, another wonderful name amongst the many
activated over the last few days.
My GPS track
This is an easy summit with only a 1.95km
walk from the parking spot. We parked the cars at SD7796 8804 and made our way
along the Pennine Bridleway for 0.5Km then heading ESE from the sheep pen towards
the summit.
M0IML/p..Tour guide
We both had long journeys in front of us so this would be a short
activation. As the rain had started to fall Barry took his extra large umbrella
as a walking stick which meant we would use my fishing pole as the support for
the antennas...we had a plan. Thank goodness there was a wall on top as by now
the wind was quite strong. As we were setting up one side of the HF dipole went
‘ping’ so a knot was tied quickly as a temporary repair and we were ready for
action.

Barry’s Log
Straight on to 60m which had served us so well over the last
4 days...we shared the contacts as usual. It was nice to hear so many regular chasers but
all were reporting that 40m was just as bad as it had been over the last few
days. I more or less worked all the chasers that Barry did but in the
background I could hear Tom M1EYP/p calling CQ SOTA from G/SP-015 (The
Cloud)...also announcing that he was ready to QSY to another band...a quick s2s
call and he was in the log...thanks Tom.

My Log
My presence on 2m
brought about a few more chasers as I felt obliged to give a call on 145.500.
With no more callers we packed up and beat a hasty retreat off the summit but not
before a few calls on 23cms..no luck.
Let's get off this summit
Dreich!
Thanks everybody for all the contacts over the last 4 days
and especially to those who spotted us and also for those s2s points. Barry and I
are in G/LD next for another joint-activation, however, I need to hit the GW/NW
summits over the next few weeks..hope to catch you then.
