A chance for a Joint Activation

Bryn had mentioned that he was going to activate Disgwylfa Fawr so I asked him if he wanted company…he was delighted. Val and I picked him up from his house and we were all on our way to the parking spot at SN725846.

Setting up the 2m cable tie dipole

We both qualified the summit quite quickly by sharing the chaser/activator contacts. First in the log with an s2s was Phil and Ian from GW/SW-029 Foel Fynyddau….thank you both. Roy was next in the log from Cardigan then silence. I’d already set up 60m so with a spot we were up and away with Dave and Martin making both our logs. Bryn went to answer an s2s with David MW0YDH/p on 2m from Mynydd Mawr GW/NW-026. I was soon calling him back for another s2s with Andy on Innerdouny Hill GM/ SS-169 whilst I had a chat with David YDH on 2m. We were soon called by Rob who was on a Hump, Don RQL who was late on parade followed by  a booming signal from Victor in GI land…thanks everyone.

Bryn finished our session with a call from Phil OBK then I set the 80m coils in place for him to have a play on 80m. It was a frantic short activation but we had an enjoyable time.

It was a bit nippy on top so we made our way down looking forward to the usual coffee and sandwiches at the car.

Our Activation set up

 (HF) Elecraft KX2 (10 watts) and 4Ah LiPo

 Antenna - 3 band link dipole (60/40/20 (+15m extensions +80m loading coils)

(VHF)  Yaesu FT270 (5watts) and Kenwood TH-F7(70cms)  into a ‘cable tie’ dipole

Antenna support - 7m Fishing pole.
