A Spring day?

Spring had finally arrived and with Viki and Rod out and about I chose a couple of Welsh Border summits to get them s2s and also to add a few more completes to my tally.  If you park on the roadside at SO281567 the summit is only 2.99km West along the Offa’s Dyke Path. I opened the activation with two s2s the first with Martyn on G/SC-005 Selworthy Beacon and Viki on GW/MW-023 Carneddau.

I had a really good run of chasers on 60m. Barry M0IML had sent a text earlier to say he would be out and looking for an s2s…he was quickly in the log from G/SE-015 Cheriton Hill.  Rod found me eventually so another s2s in the log  from Carneddau.

A visit to 80m only produced 4 chasers but Karl M3FEH was first in the queue as soon as my spot came up. The nice lady on RRT informed me that Andy MM0FMF/P was on Culter Fell GM/SS-049..short QSO and he was in the log from what sounded like a cold location.

We soon packed away as our next summit was Bradnor Hill G/WB-011 across the valley and Viki and Rod were also on their way to their next activation.

My Activation set up

 (HF) Elecraft KX2 (10 watts) and 4Ah LiPo

 Antenna - 3 band link dipole (60/40/20 (+15m extensions +80m loading coils)

(VHF)  Yaesu FT270 (5watts) and Kenwood TH-F7(70cms)  into a ‘cable tie’ dipole

Antenna support - 7m Fishing pole.
