GW/SW-015 Mynydd Llangorse

GW/SW-015   Mynydd Llangorse

06/03/2018

Joint activation with Barry M0IML

We never quite made it to the usual parking spot at SO 16072830 due to a rather large snowdrift but nevertheless we were soon on our way up to Mynydd Llangorse.  Barry had been delayed on the M25 but we made it in good time for our arranged s2s with Rod and Viki…thanks both for hanging around.

Despite the wintry conditions we have had lately it was quite pleasant on top with no evidence of snow.  After our s2s with Viki and Rod (including 23cms),  Barry was away on 60m so I dropped down to 80m with a good run of chasers some having just spoken to Barry.  He was using a 4m fishing pole today so it would be interesting to see how it would perform...

My Log
My final contact was with Martyn M1MAJ/p on Barry’s set up with reasonable signal reports both ways…I might consider the 4m pole?  It will be interesting to see Barry’s logs over the next few days as he activates the SW summits with this configuration. Mindful of our next summit we packed up and made our way down to the bwlch and the stiff pull up on to Mynydd Troed.

My Activation set up
(HF) Elecraft KX2 (10 watts) and 4Ah LiPo
 Antenna - 3 band link dipole (60/40/20 (+15m extensions +80m loading coils)
(VHF)  Yaesu FT270 (5watts) and Kenwood TH-F7(70cms)  into a ‘cable tie’ dipole
Antenna support - 7m Fishing pole.

Thanks everyone for the contacts
