Joint activation with
John GW4TQE
John was down on ‘my patch’ activating all of the Pembrokeshire
SOTA summits. I couldn’t resist joining
him on our only 2 pointer which would also mean 3 winter bonus points. After a few text message to arrange the
activation we agreed to meet at SN0755 3219…it
was here that we suddenly realised how windy it was.
My GPS track
On arriving at the summit we realised it would be too windy
for HF so with me hanging on to John’s short fishing pole and Slim Jim we
managed to qualify the summit on 2m with the help of a large number of SOTA
friends.

Simon GW4TJC/p was first up with an s2s from Mynydd Mawr
GW/NW-026 and like us having to contend with a shortened antenna in the high
winds…he did have the benefit of a nice cairn :) ..thanks Simon.
My friend Roy from Cardigan was next in the log followed by
Bill nr Milford Haven and my long time activating companion Steve MW0BBU on a
handheld also from nr Milford Haven.
Glyn GW0JAI from Machynlleth was next followed by a surprise
s2s with Dominic in EI land. I picked up the two Don’s with some last minute calls
on the handheld from by the trig…RQL on the hh to Devon …cool :)
Quick selfie before leaving the summit..nice day..pity about the wind
Thanks everyone for
the contacts
