On the way home
GM/WS-339 Druim na h Earba
08/06/2015
We were a little sad with having to make our way back home
after a lovely week on the Isle of Skye.
One of the views we would miss seeing everyday
As an extra adventure we took the
ferry from Armadale ( 5 minutes down the road from our self-catering cottage) across to Mallaig for another
few days in Fort William.
We had hoped to venture up Ben Nevis but with the
amount of snow on top we decided to leave it for another trip and had to make
do with a sightseeing trip up along Glen Nevis.
Didn't expect to get this pic!
Snow melt from Ben Nevis
I could not leave Fort William without activating a summit
so we decided on Druim na h Earba which is just South of Fort William. It’s a
nice easy summit with views of Ben Nevis, Fort William and Loch Linnhe.
My GPS track
Pile-up in progress :)
With the linear ‘on’ I had a nice
run of regular SOTA chasers including many WAB chasers as I think this was the
first time that the trig had been activated for the award

Loch Linnhe
It was a glorious day and a pleasure to be out on a summit. Thanks
everyone for the contacts which included quite a few brief QSOs :)
As Len and Gwyneth had never stayed in the Lake District a
quick phone call to Jeanette at 2, Cambridge Villas, Church Street, Ambleside(015394 32142) brought the good news
that a couple of rooms were available for one night. We ended our lovely trip
North with a stroll around Ambleside, then a visit to the Kirkstone Pass taking
in Windermere on the way back before returning for an evening meal in Ambleside.
Thanks to Len
and Gwyneth for the company and no doubt there will be another SOTA trip in the
very near future......
