GM/SI-058 Meall na Suiramach

Isle of Skye 2015 - First summit of the day

GM/SI-058  Meall na Suiramach

03/06/2015

We were all staying in a self-catering cottage down in Calligary near Armadale on the Sleate peninsula so  it would be a long drive today via Portree and up to the Quiraing range of mountains  on the Troternish  peninsula. The weather forecast looked good with the possibility of the occasional shower. The summit  is a good 2.48 Km walk with a short stiff climb North from the Car park to begin with then a steady walk along the top of the cliffs before heading NW towards the summit and trig (TP5562).

Looking back at the car park and Bioda Buidhe GM/SI-081

I kicked off with an s2s with David GM0EVV/p on GM/WS-264  with 5/9 reports each way and a brief QSO..thanks David.

A brief run of regular chasers then a few WAB chasers called in to get the trig and square with Rod M0JLA in the middle followed by another s2s with Dave G4ASA/p on G/TW-004...thanks Dave much appreciated.

Another s2s with Paul GM4MD/p on GM/SS-277 ( thanks Paul) started another run of chasers for both SOTA and WAB ending with a nice chat with Jack GM4COX although a change in band conditions spoilt the QSO at the end.

It had begun to rain so the others set off before me whilst I packed away although with a shortcut across the moorland I soon caught up with them. On the way down we came to a decision that as there were some tired legs in the group I would venture up the second summit on my own. With the car park in sight for the others I headed down and up for Bioda Buidhe GM/SI-081 which is due South from the car park...thanks everyone for all the contacts and s2s.......

See if you can spot me on my way up to Bioda Buidhe?
