Track leading up from SO22350695
Saint David’s day today :) We left the car at SO22350695 and walked SE up
the track towards SO230066 then headed North along the track towards the
summit.
Track leading towards summit
Expect to see two and four wheeled off roaders on these tracks. The
wind was strong and dark clouds were looming towards the West. 55 contacts between the both of us with an
s2s with Mal GW6OVD/p and Andy GW7RKC/p on GW/SW-004 Waun Rydd – thanks both.

We parked at SO18651030 which is on the junction which takes
you up to the Golf club house. The wind was extremely strong and it had started
to rain. We followed the track which takes you East of the trig point then cut
across the moorland to the trig. The rain had turned to hailstones so I helped
Barry with the antenna both agreeing that this would have to be a ‘shared first
4 contacts’ activation. There is no protection on the summit and the trig was
surrounded by water - handy metal pole next to it but still in the water :( We started the activation but by now it was
horizontal sleet which was freezing on us. Hiding behind our rucksacks we made
11 contacts until QRT was called. Thanks everybody for being there but it’s the
first time that both Barry and I have had to cut short an activation in that
way. It never stopped until we were nearly at the car, both of us looking like icicles.
The following day on his way home Barry activated Tor y Foel GW/SW-013 and made 24
contacts including an s2s with Rod on G/WB-024 Aconbury Hill.
Thanks everyone
for the contacts on what was an eventful few days :)
