After the storm

The band of rain (storm) took slightly longer to pass through so I had to change my Alert on Sotawatch as I sat in the car waiting for it to ease. I’d parked at SN921024.

Waiting....

A couple of WhatsApp messages from my weather scouts to the West prepared me for the improvement and although it was misty and damp I eventually had a rain free activation. 

My set up on a misty and wet summit

I set up at the side of the track below the Trig and about 200m to the North of the memorial for the young boy who lost his life at the spot in 1902. My antenna was out in the open but I was sheltered from the wind by the high bank 34 chasers ITL ...no response to my calls and spot on 2m probably due to the location and trees. 

Mini unun transformer for my hybrid EFHW

I was testing my super light newly built home brew 49:1 Unun transformer for the EFHW which performed really well I think with the KX2 set to 8 watts... a really light weight set up now. Bothy bag was out today just to keep the radio gear dry but it wasn't really needed.
