GW/SW-031
Mynydd Uchaf
11/04/2021
The sun was
shining…avoided the snow.
Thanks to everyone who contacted me on GW/SW-031 Mynydd
Uchaf and chosen as I would avoid any snow showers that had been
forecast. HF was especially testing with
a contest on 40m which I avoided and also general band conditions were down. It
was great to get Esther and Ian in the log on 60m after a long absence due to
Covid restrictions.

It was a morning of experimenting as I have now made a
resonant 60m End-fed with a link at 40m to give me 20m, 15m, and 10m without an
ATU on workable sections of the bands if necessary. 80m was accomplished with a loading coil in
the 40m link. I still used the internal ATU on the KX2 to keep the rig
happy. This is work in progress but I
still miss the linked dipole which is more compact on summit with not having to
erect an extra pole for 4m/2m...it is as if I have an antenna farm on summit
... still it is all lighter to carry than what I was carrying previously.

If I ditched 4m and 2m then the set up would be fantastic
to carry as my 6m Carbon Fibre pole and End-fed combo is super light. On the other hand I would miss my 2m QSOs
with all the chasers….thanks everyone.
My activation set-up
