Hard Slog

Great day but what a hard slog. Rhinog Fach GW/NW-078 was my target as it has been recently been given Marilyn status and so became a new SOTA summit

I downloaded and followed Gerald MW0WML's route from SOTA mapping (also on SOTLAS).

My route

Gerald's GPS route is spot on and follows a well worn but at times difficult bouldery terrain...it's a case of head down and watch where you put your feet...oh! and it's really steep in many places...I now have great respect for all the Rhinogs.

My Office

40 contacts in my log... 9 on 2m-fm, 20 on 40m-ssb, 11 on 20m-ssb. 3 s2s...John GW4TQE/p on Cyrn y Brain, Richie MW7RJO/p on Pen Llithrig y Wrach.. both these activators 'hung around' on 2m-fm to get me...thank you both....and finally a surprise s2s with Adrian G4AZS/p on Rombalds Moor on 40m.

VHF & VHF

Saw plenty of wildlife including fellow Mountain Goats😀 and also a Beechcraft Texan from RAF Valley which flew the bwlch between Y Llethr and my summit...managed one reasonable photo.
