GW/MW-038 – Disgwylfa Fawr
01/12/2017
Fun in the sun
Disgwylfa Fawr saw
three Moutain Goats meet up to celebrate
the first day of Winter Bonus. David
M0YDH had an early start from Wolverhampton to meet up with Matt G8XYJ in
Ludlow. They both travelled down
together to Ponterwyd which is East of Aberystwyth meeting up with me at just
after 9:00am in the morning.
GPS track
Matt was up and running very quickly on 2m SSB and was delighted with his first three
contacts especially with Don RQL in Devon and Phil OBK in Pickering....well
done to all concerned.

Matt’s Log
GW8XYJ - 2m ssb
A selection of antenna
It took me and David a little longer to get going with David
figuring out how to put together his home brew 70cms beam and me working out
where to put the HF wire to avoid tangling with the beams. I set up the KX2 which performed well on 60m
with the majority of chasers giving me good signal reports…thanks everyone.
GW4VPX...busy on 60m

My Log
MW0YDH chatting away to Don GW0PLP in Aberporth on 70cms
David was delighted with his 70cms contact with Don PLP in
Aberporth but despite calling quite a few times it was his one and only contact
on that band. He soon qualified the summit with a few contacts on 60m and an
s2s with John TQE/P on Stipperstones.

David’s Log
Another two s2s were very soon in the bag, one with a very cold John
MW0XOT/P on Pen y Fan and Adrian GW4AZS/P on Gyrn Moelfre…thanks both. Matt had a quick call on 20m to end our
activation but band conditions were not very favourable.
Drosgol..Banc Llechwedd Mawr hidden..next year
Mindful of the fact that Matt had a gig that evening in
Bridgenorth …(band is Hotrox and Matt is the Bass guitarist) and David had to get
back early to Wolverhampton we made our back
down hill with Winter Bonus and s2s points in the log:)
Heading down
Our next trip together has been planned for February/March
when we will tackle Banc Llechwedd Mawr and Drosgol next to Nant y Moch
reservoir. …looking forward to that :)
Thanks everyone for
the contacts
73 Allan GW4VPX,
Matt G8XYJ, David M0YDH
